洛丽汉语学校中文为第二语言成人班面向中文为第二语言,并感兴趣学习中国语言和了解中国文化的朋友们。授课教师张磊具有多年教授中文，特别是中文作为外文的教学经验。为了更好地针对本班学生的学习目的和需求, 我们将采用<中文听说读写>丛书。本班的教学重点是听和说, 并配有大量的课堂练习。我们衷心希望中文成人班的同学们学习愉快, 学有所成。
Introduction of RACL Chinese as a Second Language Class
Aims of CSL:
- To meet the needs of those interested in Chinese Language.
- To increase awareness of Chinese culture and language.
Course Description:
This course is designed for beginner students. The course helps students improve
their abilities in four basic areas: listening, speaking, reading comprehension,
and writing. The major emphasis is to enhance speaking and listening ability.
Course objectives:
Upon completion of this course, the student will be able to
- Recognize about 250 characters and 450 words.
- Communicate about common topics relating to daily life such as weather, directions or personal hobbies.
- Write a short essay of 10 or more sentences.
Course structure:
- Phonetic review and dictation are given to build up a student’s ability to differentiate tones, initials and finals.
- Chinese characters - teach radicals and their meanings and help students distinguish similar characters.
- Grammar and vocabulary explain grammar and vocabulary relevant to the text. Oral and written practice with the teacher or with other students through differently patterned drills.
- Practice reading textbook passages.
- Assign homework according to class instruction.
Instructor: Ms. Lei Zhang is specialized in CSL education.

Required:
Integrated Chinese, Level 1 Part 1, textbook (simplified version).
Supplementary:
Integrated Chinese, Level 1 Part 1, workbook (simplified version). Highly recommended, will use frequently in class.
The school has decided that students have to purchase the textbook on their own. Here are two websites that you can get it from:

It may take 3-4 weeks to get books.
In addition, the school has ordered audiocassettes of the textbook and workbook. You may check them out from RACL for one week.
